About Papi-san's Passing...
On Jan. 5, 2014 Papi-san was admitted to St. John's Hospital in Warren, Macomb County, MI. We believed he had suffered a mini-stroke.
We discovered he had a brain mass. Shortly after, he was diagnosed with Primary Central Nervous System Lymphoma.
On March 14, Papi-san underwent his initial chemotherapy session.
On March 21, he was discharged with a smile on his face and in good spirits.
On March 23, Papi-san passed away in a helicopter on the way from Bixby Hospital in Adrian, MI to ProMedica Hosptal in Toledo, Ohio.
As an avid MSU fan, my dad simply refused to go to Ohio.
I believe at the helicopter's highest point, God greeted my father and welcomed him into his Kingdom.
Prior to my dad's helicopter ride, I had spent weeks searching for the perfect MSU Rose Bowl hat. During his hospital stays, Papi-san often requested a Rose Bowl hat. He simply loved wearing hats. I finally found the right one and had it sent to him. You see, there was a lot of pressure to find the right hat. He wore his last Rose Bowl hat for six years straight.
The hat was scheduled for delivery on March 15, 2014. I planned for it to arrive when I was back with him in Michigan (on my Spring Break).
The hat never arrived. God must have kindly redirected my dad's delivery to Heaven, for God and my dad had other plans.
My dad can now finally wear his MSU Rose Bowl hat (without any pain or suffering) as he sits with the Host of the Heavenly tables.
Please leave a kind note for him below =)
